Happiness for Multi-Income Families

In today’s world both parents have to work to make ends meet in many households. This has created a shift in the way many families work. Happiness for multi-income families can be hard to achieve when there is no time for leisure activities.  This isn’t an ideal situation when it comes to taking care of things around the house. Many items go undone, and when the items are finally done they are rushed to get to a plethora of other things.

Changes in the family dynamic have created a large market for specialized services to take care of our cleaning, landscaping, or even run our errands. This makes family time more easily achieved. Many of us hire these companies to get to the things we can’t, or just don’t really want to try to tackle. Cleaning services are one of the more commonly hired services. We will take a brief look at the benefits of procuring these services.

When you are out working all day, the last thing they want to do is come home and clean after a long day of work. Cleaning services offer an array of options ranging from one time cleanings to detail cleanings. Many companies can tailor a cleaning to fit your needs, whether it is an hourly service, weekly, bi-weekly, or even monthly services. It is important when selecting a service to do a little research. If a price is too good to be true, it probably is! Steer clear of someone offering super low pricing, because they probably don’t have the time to spend on your home if they want to make any money.

While cost is an important factor, the old saying of “you get what you pay for” could not be truer when it comes to a cleaning company. Longevity in the industry can be a great indicator of what type of company you are dealing with. Check to see if the company you are hiring uses employees, or if they subcontract their work. This will tell you what kind of control they will have over your final product.

What Am I Getting?

It is very important to know what you are paying for. Does the company provide you with a cleaning checklist of what services are to be completed? This is very important! I prefer not to pay for a service if I don’t know exactly what I am getting. The checklist doesn’t have to be extremely detailed. It should at least give you a general outline of what they will do in each room. Example: kitchens do this, restrooms: do this, all rooms: do this. That is obviously not an entire checklist, but it gives you an example of the things they should be listing.

When I have my home cleaned I prefer to know who will be in my home. Does the company send the same staff each time they come into your home? Do they send a crew or an individual? Large crews tend to change often, and it is hard to know who they are. If a company sends fewer people, but take more time, you can often guarantee a more thorough cleaning. How many people will they send? The company should background check their staff through a reputable service. Privacy and peace of mind can be violated easily. Knowing who is in your home is of the utmost importance. Turnover will happen with most companies, but if they are doing their due diligence and performing a thorough check on their employees, it can mitigate any potential problems.

These are just a few things, to check when hiring a cleaning service. Only you will know what your specific needs are, and what makes you feel comfortable. I hope this has been of some help. After more than 13 years in the cleaning industry, these have helped us be one of the best in our area.
